Why subscribe?
There is basically no one writing about relationships in a way that’s informed by therapeutic practice and psychological theory but isn’t written like self-help literature or clickbait. Then there’s the two of us, who are writing stylishly and thoughtfully about relationships and couples therapy. If this kind of writing appeals to you, then you should subscribe.
That’s not entirely fair. There are plenty of other good writers out there, but less than you might think, given the extraordinary degree of interest in the topic.
About us:
Jessica Grogan is a psychotherapist (licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist) with an MA in Professional Counseling from Texas State University and a BA in Psychology from Vassar College. She also has a PhD in American Studies and an MA in English from The University of Texas at Austin.
She is on the faculty at Texas A&M Medical School’s department of humanities in medicine (Round Rock campus) and teaches course on Couples Therapy at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. In 2011, she published Encountering America: Humanistic Psychology, Sixties Culture, and the Shaping of the Modern Self.
Daniel Oppenheimer is freelance writer and the author of two books, Exit Right, which was published in February 2016 by Simon & Schuster, and Far From Respectable: Dave Hickey and His Art, which was published in June 2021 by The University of Texas Press.
His writing has been featured in the Washington Post, Texas Monthly, Boston Globe, Slate.com, The Point, Washington Monthly, Guernica, The New Republic, and Tablet Magazine, among other places. He received his BA in religious studies from Yale University and an MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia University. You can learn more about him at his personal website.
